Willie and Teddy's Excellent Adventure

Willie
and Teddy's Excellent Adventure

We think that whenever there is ANY snow at all, that should make it a SNOW DAY and therefore a day that we get to stay home from school. Including Sunday School of course. This morning it was snowing as we left the house, but our parents hardly bothered to pay any attention to that (though Papa did heat up the car ahead of us getting in, which was nice of him). Then the snow stopped and disappeared and that was the end of that -- but what about that RAIN we had earlier in the week? Willie's bus stop was completely under water! Glub, glub. The bus had to come around the corner and 30 feet up the hill to get out of the puddle so Willie could get on. It was like sheets of rain. But that's long gone as well.

However, in its place we got...Chanukah! Always a good time. The first night we had guests, which meant extra noise and fun and staying up way too late (whee!), so we have been lobbying for more guests ever since. We are starting to learn how to cement our own candles in with fire. Mmmm, fire. We love the candles. Of course that is not all we love. Of course we love presents, and we have got some cools ones. But here's one thing we DON'T love: jelly doughnuts! Feh. They were giving them out at Hebrew school but we weren't having any of it. Mommy had one at a meeting, and now she is in a position to say that Krispy Kreme jelly doughnuts do not measure up to those from Top Pot, so there. (Note to bakers: don't mess around with fake jam when you're dealing with Our Mom.)

Papa is STILL tiling...are you surprised? But here's what he's done with so far--the floor tile, the shower tile, the wainscoating tile on the north wall and behind where the toilet is going to go, and the bed for the countertop. He still has to clean 500 little blue tiles for the countertop. Ewwww. With luck, we could be showering and toileting in the new bathroom by next week.

Why oh why does Chanukah have to go by so quickly. We want it to last for 80 days. Now that would be a miracle.

Papa's magic chanukiah started smoking last night and there was smoke all up around the ceiling and Papa thought the smoke detector was going to go off so he blew out what was left of his candles, which was just a mulicolored pool of wax.

Willie grabbed mommy's chanukiah so I got the spinning one. Papa is using his old tin one from hebrew school.

Okay, okay, we get the picture. Candles. Miracles. Oil.

PRESENTS!

Up, down, spin around. Of course the first thing Willie wanted to do was stand on the swivel chair but everybody who has read Officer Buckle and Gloria knows that you should never stand on a swivel chair.

Bionicle night was where we got this HUGE bin of bionicle parts, and we just built and built and built for the next 24 hours, and there are still parts left over.

Then there was the bin of lego parts and again we built and built and built and we haven't come close to the bottom of the bin, but we have found some great pieces and a ton of guys and cannons and horses and a yardarm. Arrrrrr.

We were at the store looking for bubble bath and Papa saw 'Mr. Bubble' and said that had to be good with a name like Mr. Bubble and you know what? Those Mr. Bubble bubbles are the best darn bubbles ever! They are tiny so you can make bubble mountains, on your head!

Where's the toilet already? Oh man, it is so close!

71 of the 500 little blue tiles have been cleaned, and this is what they'll look like on the countertop.

Ooooohhhh, so close--makes you just want to turn on the water!

Here's the detail of the chair rail. Pretty roundy, like a coke can. Mmmmm, coke. Don't worry about that exposed chair rail end--one of these years we're supposed to put in a shower door.
